Preparing for the first flush of visitors...

"Spring has definitely arrived at Duck Pools and signalled by the amount of colour the borders are currently boasting."

I always think of spring colours as yellow and blue and it just happens that these two colours complement each other so well too! In the garden cowslips and Doronicum are in full throttle accompanied by the azure blue of Hyacinths, muscari and primroses. Not to mention the varying shades of yellow and orange provided by the different varieties of Narcissus throughout the garden.

However its not all about these colours. If reds, pinks and creams are your thing then the Anemone pavoninas which are coming into flower will satisfy your cravings for colour. We've got plenty of troughs and urns planted with various spring bedding and sometimes rare and unusual alpines.

If you like things in miniature then the Alpine house is the place for you. It is the perfect time to see these mountainous jewels flowering their socks off undercover and protected from the elements. Many are precious plants bought from specialist nurseries over the past few years and are seldom seen so well worth a visit for this alone!

If you're interested we are open next Sunday (17th April) 1-4pm.

We are based at Stourbridge, Dy9 7be (West Midlands) and we're situated right on the No 9 bus route. We will be serving cream teas and homemade cakes with undercover seating in the secret bothy and the garden room. Any queries please use the contacts page...
